This framing lesson provides a focus on the text, A Doll’s House, and prepares students to enter the following unit on feminism and women’s roles in history. This lesson launches a unit with an exploratory research project on women’s roles and rights from the Victorian era to today, and sets the stage for students to dive into the world of feminist literature. Students complete a Handout Project to communicate their research to their classmates in a Gallery Walk.

The Name is Mine: Article Analysis

This lesson is a class discussion analyzing on the article “The Name is Mine” by Anna Quindlen. It is designed to be used within a unit on women’s roles and rights in society and the world of feminist literature. Students complete a Pen-to-Paper Annotation or free-write based on the article, process their main ideas and thoughts using an Idea Cluster graphic, and condense their ideas into a Universal Message. Not only is this lesson conceptual and creative, but it also supports the process of thesis crafting.
