About

Wrandom Writer

The Wrandom Writer blog has been a place to express myself throughout many varied seasons of life. I began this blog in High School for a blogging challenge, and have continued to accumulate and store miscellaneous creative, editorial, and personal writing here. I also published my college essays for both English Literature and Education courses. With a bit of curation, I’ve decided to continue blogging on this platform during my first year as an English teacher, and most likely beyond.

Biography

As a teen, Jazz was often found buried in a book and writing novels. She participated in National Novel Writing Month multiple years, and maintained her own creative writing blog.

She then began her college career at Austin Community College, where she studied British Literature abroad in the United Kingdom. While in school, she also served in Children’s Ministry at True Life Church as an Administrative Assistant, Sunday School teacher, and Kid’s Worship Overseer for many years, worked as a Supplemental Instruction Tutor at ACC, and as an After-School Teacher at Side by Side Kids Inc. Through these early encounters with education, Jazz found a passion for teaching in addition to her love of English.

In 2016, she transferred to The University of Texas at Austin and majored in English. She was also accepted to the rigorous UTeach-Liberal Arts teacher preparation and certification minor, and served three internships at Austin and Round Rock public schools prior to completing Student Teaching at LASA High School in Austin.

In May 2019, Jazz graduated with Honors and a Bachelor’s degree from UT Austin, in tandem with certification to teach Secondary English. She and her husband, Devin, moved to Bryan, Texas, where Jazz accepted a 10th grade teaching position at Bryan Collegiate High School.
